Your intro is costing you views
Every second you spend saying hi, explaining who you are or setting up the topic is a second someone spends deciding to swipe. The feed does not wait for you to get to the good part.
The fix is not a louder intro. It is no intro at all. Start in the middle of the tension and let the context catch up.
The three ingredients
Almost every hook that works has at least two of these:
- A specific person: "if you have under 1K followers" beats "if you are a creator".
- A specific number or detail: "$847", "11 minutes", "day 90". Specifics feel true.
- An open loop: something the viewer can only resolve by staying. A contradiction, a result without the method, a mistake without the fix.
Say it twice
A big share of people watch with the sound off, so put the hook on screen as text and say it out loud at the same time. The text catches the muted scrollers, your voice catches everyone else.
A 10 minute hook workout
Before you film, write ten hooks for the same video. Not two. Ten.
- Write five fast without judging.
- Write five more using the three ingredients on purpose.
- Cross out anything that starts with "today", "hey" or "so".
- Read the survivors out loud. Film the one you would stop for.
Let the results pick next week’s hooks
Your own analytics are the best hook coach you will ever have. Look at which openers held people past the first few seconds and write more in that shape. Cowral does this automatically with your connected accounts, but a notes app works too.
Cowral hace todo esto por ti cada semana, con tus estadísticas reales y lo que es tendencia en tu nicho.
